The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS), in partnership with Miller Thomson LLP and the Victoria Advanced Technology Council (VIATeC), Is holding the AIM Bootcamp to Access International Markets on September 14, 2010 at the Vancouver Island Tech Park in Victoria, BC.
 
As part of a larger five city Western Canadian tour, this day long program will feature experienced investors from
Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, New York and Tokyo markets. Participants will be provided with information on effective pitch preparation and presentation, and will then present to a Review Board of investment professionals for instant feedback

Companies will learn about access International markets, customers, partners, investors, talent and the sprit of entrepreneurship found abroad.

This one day educational and "bootcamp-style" program will feature expert investors and entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, New York, and Canada - all aligned to help facilitate cross-border growth for Canadian companies ready to move to the next stage.

8:45 Part 1 of a program of four morning speakers from US Markets: Rich Rasmussen, Palo Alto: Thiery Weissen burger, San Francisco; Miriam Liam Bekkouche, New York; Tom Palamides, Los Angeles.

Session topics include:

• What does it mean to go international?

• How to effectively present the market problem, the opportunity and your solution.

• Sales channel strategies. Who to trust and not to trust.

• How to present your evaluation of the competition.

• How to pitch to investors and partners.

 

Selected companies will have the opportunity to pitch to the Investment Professionals Panel

• 10 minute company pitch to local and US experts

• 5+ minute immediate pitch feedback by the Panel

• Top companies will be invited to participate in “next steps” in the US

 

Luncheon and evening networking event

• Opportunity to mingle and chat with local and US-based investors, participants and entrepreneurs in an informal setting

• Unwind after an intense day of preparation and presentations

 

Next steps for selected, eligible companies will be the opportunity to participate in custom aftercare programs in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Denver and Tokyo.
